This is one of the three regions that are competitive enough that it might be possible for any of the four teams to emerge. Full disclosure, I picked Tennessee in this region, but if the lineup they submitted stands I don't think it will happen. I like Luca Weidenmann a lot and I can't see Tennessee winning without him in the lineup. I say they pull Prata to get Wiedenmann in, if not I think they go down to Tulane. Don't get me wrong, even with Wiedenmann they may get knocked off by Tulane but I like their chances much better. I think Tennessee wins at 1 and 3, Tulane wins at 2 and 5 and that leaves the match at dubs, 4 and 6. Tennessee has traditionally been extremely strong at doubles but they dropped both dubs points in a double-header with Charlotte, not a good sign. With everything I've said you'd think I'd be picking Tulane, but hey, I'm an SEC guy and I'm sticking with the Vols, they find a way.
The Florida State vs Texas Tech match has the potential to be a good one but in order for that to happen the Red Raiders are going to have to step it up at the bottom of the lineup. I think the recipe for Texas Tech is dubs, 3 and then two of 4/5/6. It's possible but I think just about every matchup outside of 1 and 2 is a toss-up with the Noles taking courts 1 and 2. If you're with me and you give FSU a sure 2 points then all they have to do is win 2 of 5 toss-ups (and at home no less).
The final could be anything here but I'm obviously predicting a Florida State vs. Tennessee final so we'll look at that. Again, if Wiedenmann is in the lineup I like Tennessee's chances and I think they pull it off grabbing four of the five points from dubs, 1, 3, 5, 6.
Predictions:Tennessee 4, Tulane 3
