2019 ITA Men's Kickoff

Preview - Ohio State Region

This should be a pretty straight-forward region for Ohio State as the Buckeyes are clearly the class of the field here. It's tough to see them even giving up a point but if it's going to happen you would think it has to be at 4 or 5. Playing Martin Joyce at 6 is a joke, he won't lose a match all year at 6, but I don't expect him to stay there either.

The Saturday match between Arkansas and Cornell figures to be a very entertaining one, and one that I am frankly having a hard time picking. The trouble here is I can't figure out this Cornell lineup. David Volfson is missing which is a huge blow to the Big Red. I'm not sure if it's injury or scheduling but a Volfson/Ayeni 1/2 is extremely solid. But that's not the only piece of the Big Red puzzle that has me scratching my head. They have Jake Hansen down at 8 and Eero Vasa (a talented transfer from UCF) at 9. Those two, if they are in form should both be in the lineup. So with all the uncertainty (at least in my mind which means absolutely nothing) and the fact that Arkansas pulled off a nice upset over UCF without their best player Oscar Mesquida (who happens to be listed at 2 this weekend) I'll take the Razorbacks in a tight one.

As for Sunday, well... O-H-I-O!

Predictions:

Ohio State 4, VCU 0
Arkansas 4, Cornell 3
Final: Ohio State 4, Arkansas 0
